New Territories North European residents warned to evacuate.
2nd. Assistant Superintendent of Police, Kowloon proceeded to office at Tsim Sha Tsui.
Inspector Whant, Divisional Inspector, Water Police, took up post at Tsim Sha Tsui and des- patched Officer in Charge Water Police, Sub Inspector Oliver to act as liaison officer with Harbour Master. On instructions of Senior Sup- erintendent of Police, Kowloon, No.1 Cruising Launch was sent to Tai O to carry out prelimin- ary evacuation of the station and No.3 Cruising Launch sent to Cheung Chau to carry out full evacuation. Preliminary evacuation was only carried out at first at Tai O as the Commander, Royal Artillery, requested Senior Superintendent of Police, Kowloon to maintain the Stati on for a time as an Air Watching post.
Senior Superintendent of Police, Defence, arrived at office and arranged with Commissioner of Prisons for staff of wardresses for Chitose Hotel Internment Camp accommodating Japanese women and children to be provided. He commenced lists of cross harbour permits and special identity passes and cards. (This was continued for some days). Arranged mobilization of Street Guards and Specia Constabulary. Ascertained transport arrangements was in hand. Mr. Newbiggin, Food Controller, reported break down of food control and Mr. Chester woods, Acting Assistant Superintendent of Police, was instructed to carry on with police arrange- ments.
New Territories North Police arrived at Taipo, except Au Tau, Ping Shan and Castle Peak, who evacuated via the Castle Peak Road and Sai Kung by land and Motor Boat direct to Kowloon. (Lok Ma Chau motor boat disabled).
Special Branch officers reported for duty.
No.2 Cruising Launch proceeded to Port Shelter t pick up Sai Kung (No.15) Motor Boat and escorted her in. Remainder of Sai Kung police evacuated by land direct to Kowloon.
Mr. Wright Nooth, Assistant Superintent of Polic instructed to take post at Central.
Dispersal of Kowloon police to the appointed houses took place.
Senior Superintendent of Police, Kowloon took post at Tsim Sha Tsui.

Collection of vehicles and registration of Auxi- liary Transport Service drivers in Kowloon for the Controller of Land Transport commenced, vehicles being concentrated in Chatham Road. Difficulties were experienced during ensuing day: in keeping drivers owing to the lack of feeding facilities. Vehicles were often found abandoned
